This success is rooted
in over three decades of history.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Pune emerged as a hub for startups and technology companies.
During this vibrant period, KPIT was conceived by two chartered accountants, Mr. Ravi Pandit and Mr. Kishor Patil, who aimed to establish a globally recognized firm.
Both were partners at Kirtane and Pandit Chartered Accountants, a respected firm founded by late Shri. B.R. Pandit in the 1950s. They were soon joined by Shirish Patwardhan and Sachin Tikekar as co-founders.
Initially incubated within the chartered accountancy firm, KPIT later evolved into a separate entity, embarking on an independent path with a vision for global impact. It rapidly embraced the technology sector, focusing on innovation and seizing new opportunities.
Building Foundations and Expanding Horizons (1999-2013)
In its early years, KPIT Infosystems built a robust foundation with a focus on select verticals and technological solutions. A major milestone was its 1999 IPO, which was oversubscribed 50 times. The 2002 collaboration with Cummins led to the formation of KPIT Cummins Infosystems, specializing in embedded software and digital transformation for automotive and manufacturing sectors.
Between 2002 and 2013, KPIT expanded its client base and developed competencies in automotive engineering. The acquisition of companies like CG Smith, TVS Harita Mechanical Engineering Team, and in2Soft Diagnostics enhanced KPIT’s engineering capabilities.
