KPIT Remote Software Management (RSM), is an umbrella term for its roles based, SW management solution. RSM includes cloud and client Over-the-Air (OTA) update technologies and is one of three primary verticals in the Digital Connected Solutions (DCS) business unit which include Asset (Fleet) Management and Predictive Maintenance.
Evolving OTA update technologies go beyond simple, secure FTP to redefine management of next-generation, software-defined vehicles. KPIT partners with OEMs and integrates their backend business infrastructure and in-vehicle systems to manage binaries and software cradle to grave for the vehicle.
KPIT endeavors to:
- Make the supplier software management process more seamless over the entire life of the vehicle
- Develop insightful reports and dashboards for their clients
- Help reduce the cost of software warranties and OTA payloads
- Enable OEMs to focus on the big picture systems integration and the suppliers to focus on their individual components
KPIT’s RSM ensure security and traceability of the payloads coming into the vehicle irrespective of the OEM’s technology stack. Next generation architectures and digital cockpits need to support new more complicated and larger software stacks for ADAS and in-vehicle-infotainment (IVI).
KPIT’s all-encompassing RSM Platform combines other KPIT solutions such as Digital Cockpit Simulators and KITE (KPIT Integrated Test Environment) to ease the development and test process. By extending binary management used for OTA Campaigns to the entire vehicle lifecycle, KPIT enables OEMs to undertake development with stringently monitored quality processes that minimize the touchpoints with their suppliers.
Platform features include secure package management, configurable campaign policies, a scalable campaign platform for staged update campaigns, and easy integration with OEM back- end systems.
Some of the highlights of KPIT’s OTA solution and services are:
- Supports both AWS and Azure
- Highly reliable dual-bank software updates
- Future-ready common components for various OTA update use cases
- Variant management for vehicle models and software version dependencies
- Campaign management aligned with OEM processes and policies
- Solution readiness on Adaptive AUTOSAR platform
- Supports multiple operating systems—Linux and Android Automotive
- Uptane, Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMADM), and WP.29 software update management systems (SUMS) compliance
According to KPIT, their OTA solution has been implemented on more than 5 million vehicles globally, with more than 11 million under contract.
